Grant is a registered Medical Laboratory Scientist and has been an Honorary Associate for Medical Laboratory Science within the Department of Microbiology and Genetics at Massey University and was on the Editorial Board of the New Zealand Journal of Medical Laboratory Science from 1994 to 1999.
As well as his professional qualifications Grant has a Master of Business Studies (Health Management) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business and Administration (Management) from Massey University.
Grant Is currently the Program Manager of a Cerner Millenium e-health Record system deployment at a large UK Trust in the NHS.
Grant was the Chief Information Officer at DGL, a medical software company. DGL was the first company globally to build a web based electronic health record.
Grants previous engagements have been in the private and public health sector and have encompassed Quality/Risk Management, Program Management, Business Process re-engineering, Laboratory Medicine and IT Consulting.
Grant has a strong interest in quality and risk management and is currently a Credentialed Management Surveyor for Quality Health New Zealand (NZ Council on Healthcare Standards).
Grant has managed IT and change management projects in Thailand, Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom and New Zealand and has worked as Project Director for a large DHB Electronic Health Record project.
Grant has been the Project Director managing a project for a large US company building a chronic disease management system for Diabetes and Hypertension and has just completed a program management role for an NHS Trust implementing an electronic health record.
Grant also undertakes consultancy engagements in the Health Management, IT, Quality and Risk Management fields.
